Rewind!

This is the post I should have done before any about arriving in Florida - Whoops!
Therefore I'm writing it now :) My last week in Canada in short form!
Tell me this isn't the most adorable face ever?
I miss my Lily pug already!

My Mum/sister made Banana Nut Pooh and Tigger waffles!
Mornings don't get much better than this!

Saturday August 6th I attended a wedding on Denman Island! It was a blast
but I didn't take any photos of the wedding or reception...
just of the ferry boat ride back.

This excited me so much! The Vancouver Sun is a big newspaper!
And the little ol' ship wrecks in my little ol' use-to-be-a-regional-district
made the front cover of the paper and got a two page colour spread!
Fun Fact: One of my relatives was on one of these ships!

This is what I woke up to my second last night at home.
A blurry german shepard licking her chops..and my face!
After the wake up call I had brunch with some of the most wonderful girls I know. It was so much fun, we laughed insanely, and just always have a good time together. I miss them already.

This is where I live! Well, not this precise sandy island, but you get
what I'm saying.

Usually when you drive along this chuck of road (the Dyke) you
can count 10+ Bald Eagles!!

This is where my fantastic Mum works as well as the location of my
own last day of work in Canada! I was a receptionist filling in for a bit
during summer hours.

Goose Spot! Now you know ;)

Home Sweet Home

Tall Trees. Vast Mountains. Deep Valleys.

Lewis Park!

You can always go...downtown.

Royston! This is the beach I always ran past, walked to and that we got to see
lovely fireworks from for BC Day!
In between the last picture and the next picture I had a fantastic goodbye dinner with my family including my parents, Carrie, grandparents, aunties and cousins! We had lots of fun, soooo much food (yummy!) and it was wonderful!
This is my friend Simon who happens to be the Blue Bottle Number 1 for Ralph Lauren currently.
I doubt that's what it's actually called, but it's funny seeing him everywhere!
This is in Vancouver!

Impressive Watermelon Ice Cream Cake!
This was while on wedding to-do list shopping!

This is my new pug Penny.
Or it would have been...

We had a lovely dinner at Milestone's in West Vancouver to get to know some
more of Gareth's family as well as just to all hang out and have a good time.
This is Aoife, she was so much fun and so easy to get along with.

Check out that last one! The Break Up Tub?! Oh man...

While picking up Carrie's dress we found my future wedding dress!
Minus the black..

True Love in Real Life.
Most wonderful day ever!

Savi and I spinning!

Gorgeous flower girls and bridesmaids

Ahh! Leaving already! International Departures at YVR

See ya Later Canada!

Arrived!!

I'm currently typing this from my apartment in the Commons!!! How exciting is that?! I am in a 2 bedroom apartment that looks over Mickey's Retreat's soccer fields!  To be honest it was a bit surreal arriving and didn't feel real, even through the Wal-Mart shop.  I went with this lovely girl Linsey from Scotland and picked up some hangers and groceries.  Then after coming back and unpacking a bit Linsey, Tamara and I went to Downtown Disney for dinner!! Tamara is from Comox which is the town right beside mine and we have some mutual friends so that's cool.

We ate at Wolfgang Pucks in the bar area (it was a 45 minute wait for the dining room...no thanks!) and all three of us had pizza.  Mine was pesto and cheese and really yummy. It was thin crust and not insanely greasy so it didn't give you that 'I feel super grossy sick and shouldn't have eaten that feeling.'  Always a good feeling to avoid! So the meal was good and then we walked through Downtown Disney looking in a few stores including Goofy's Candy Factory/Store.  It is so crazy in there!! I can't imagine letting a child in - they would go nuts!

After coming home from dinner I unpacked a bit more of my clothes so I only have bathroom things and kitchen things left.  Then I was so tired from the red-eye flight and day that I went to bed around 1130.

Today we have lots of paperwork to do! It starts soon so I should be on my way!!

9 Days!

Single Digits! Oh man!!!!

I can't believe it's coming so fast!

I have more to say but have made myself pack something before I tell you about the fun wedding I attended yesterday!

But I wanted to bring you this link:

The Disney Food Blog! It's actually a very exciting announcement for those planning to stay on property between now and March 2012! Hint: FREE DINING!!!

Also I have been working on my bucket list...so check it out HERE and let me know if you have any Must-Dos to add to my list! So far I've only really covered Magic Kingdom!

Talk soon amigos!

PS- Packing is the vain of my existence. Gah!!! I only have 3 more sleeps in my own bed/house and am just about to go out for a lovely goodbye lunch with some girlfriends! Yay!

Travel Insurance? Check!

Travel insurance was the last big thing I really needed for my trip (besides packing...which we're pretending doesn't actually need to happen. :)

Travel insurance was a bit of a stress-er for me, but not nearly as bad as some of the UK girls arriving with me who were lied to about coverage and found out after buying it that it wasn't good enough! And then don't get refunds! I would be sooooooo disappointed/angry!

With my travel insurance I went with BCAA because that's who I had it with last time and it seems like a fair price, I guess. I ended up calling twice and going into the office twice because I am overly eager/indecisive. The one guy on the phone made a very good point when he said "We always hope insurance is a total waste of money."  So true, but not really what you want to hear when you're shelling out the cash for it.  Obviously I don't want to get sick, but I also don't want to hear I'm wasting my money - it's a tricky little spot between a rock and a hard place.  My main concern with getting trip insurance after deciding to pay the extra $50 for a Zero deductible (if I hadn't I know I would have gotten sick or broken, but now that I have I will be perfectly fine.  I also thought that since I'm training for and running a half marathon while I have this there is a slightly higher chance of clumsy me twisting an ankle or falling on my face) was whether to get the multiple trip insurance or the singular trip insurance.

The man on the phone had me convinced of the year plan for $285.00 and that I could pay it two months up front and then $25 a month, which sounded fine and good, and if I had to come home because something happened then I would be okay.  He failed to say that I absolutely HAD to come back to Canada every 120 days!
The lady in the office said that if I got the single trip, but had to come home anytime before 30 days before the end of my insurance, than I could cancel it, get money back, and start a new one for the remaining time.  This seemed like the best option and I went for it.
The man on the phone also originally priced my single trip about $60 higher than the first lady on the phone did, and only after I asked about it did it get corrected.  :S

All in all I think my insurance will be fine, and most likely I won't need to use it.  However it was a bit more running around and confusion than I thought it would be.  It ended up being $207.37 for the 4 months, it could have been cheaper by 5% if I booked online but for some reason I had it in my mind that they would need to mail it to me and I leave too soon for that.  Only know have I realized I probably could have just printed it all.... oh well!

Today I worked for a co-worker of my Mum's helping pack up a lady's home for moving.  Yes, to avoid my own packing, I helped someone else pack.  Ohhhh my.  It did make me feel the urge to go home and throw everything extra away though - we collect so much unnecessary things over the years. I guess I will attempt the beginning of packing now, I have a list of what I have in Orlando, a partial list of what I'd like to bring down, and so much other stuff everywhere!

I have a few goodbye dinners/hang outs planned in the next few days as well as am going to a wedding on Saturday which will be fun!  Tomorrow was suppose to be my last day of work, but I can't help it and said I would work on Monday as well. It's just a bit of office work, so should be a good little distraction/time away from all the craziness lately!

I went to Tofino for the weekend, Vancouver for the week, then to a dear dear friend's wedding yesterday!! I have many photos and more details! So stay tuned, I shall update properly sooon...but for now I will leave you with two interesting facts:

Just 2 Arrival Groups Away!

That's right! There are only two arrival groups between now and my lovely group of August 16th-ers!! I'm clearly over the moon about this fact! It's also exciting some people have been hearing on the waitlist this week! So if you're on the Canadian waitlist, don't lose hope! Apparently Kristen said that Merch in Canada is understaffed, and Food and Beverage surely always needs someone! Also a girl declined her contract a week or so ago, so you never know! Waiting is stressful and frustrating, and it's hard to get on with your life when things are in limbo, but as soon as you hear, that will all disappear and you'll just be plain elated! Promise!

In other news I got my grades back from Rosen College/ University of Central Florida and I officially got all As! Yay! I feel so smart! haha. Just to point out my total geekiness! It shows the difference between enjoying what you're studying and studying what you think you might enjoy - but then not. Deep down I guess we all knew I'd end up in hospitality, and a lot of people told me to go here and there and take it, but I don't think I would be happy doing hospitality somewhere else.  It's a case of the perfect thing to study in the perfect place! Yay!

Incredibly delicious biscottis my amazingly talented sister made!!

Yup, I ate that entire bag of ketchup chips...what?! I won't be having any for at least another year!!

Doesn't she kind of look like a sea otter?
Lily = <3

Outside of my Disney Package!

Inside of my Disney Package! It included a sheet about driving the US from Canada,
an over view of the program, living while on the program and learning on the program.
It also had a copy of some housing and work contracts as well as my start date!

Just in case you're a boy and want to know how to grow your hair ;)

The Disney Look Book! Ahh!
Tomorrow I'm going to Tofino for a few days with my dear friend Holly! Then Friday I'm off to Vancouver with my sister Carrie to hopefully buy some bridesmaid dresses!!!! Until then my friends! Stay happy!! And enjoy the Sunshine of Summer - wherever you are :)

PS - I just saw a news story about a dog which went missing in Montreal a year ago.  It was found over 3400kms away a year later in Kamloops!!! How incredible is that?! And the family couldn't afford a plane ticket so the international SPCA flew the doggy home! All together now - Awwwwww!!!

Trip To Orlando and Orientation Day 1

The flight from Vancouver went well. I was sitting in the bulk head (front? Right behind the rich people where they constantly were making sure the see-through curtain was closed?) which meant no where to put my bags..but more leg room! The two men beside me were talking a lot to each other about the most bizarre things.  The middle gentlemen was older and had packed sooo many snacks! It was pretty cute!  He offered me nut mix and those little cheese and cracker kits with the red sticks? I took some nut mix because he wouldn't take no for an answer. I know I know, never take food from strangers, he did offer candy at one point even…The older gentlemen was also from Victoria and use to vacation in Comox at a cabin with his family when he was young. He now lives in Vancouver. Usually I really don't like talking to people on flights but this guy was pretty nice.  Plus I only talked to him once I had to take off my headphones.
The Phoenix to Orlando leg was about 4 hours.  I was in the same row but the other side of the aisle and there was so middle person to that was nice. I just slept a bit and read.

Stepping off the plane in Orlando always feels so good. The rush of humidity and warmth that hits you is only second to landing in Hawaii, because they also have the incredible smell of tropical flowers.

Trips to Orlando only seem real once I get on the monorail (sky train? Tram? I’m not even sure what they call it at the airport), its when I feel like I’ve really arrived. Although walking out to a Harry Potter Universal Store, a Sea World Store and of course, A Disney Store also helps.  Luggage took a bit of time and then I went downstairs and outside to catch the shuttle to Payless Car Rentals!  I’ve never rented from them before (I’ve done Budget a few times and Dollar) but they were a lot cheaper than the other ones because it was off airport property so they were the choice of the day.  When myself and a few other younger people got on the shuttle the driver made sure we know where we were going, and another lady said I should be flattered I don’t look old enough to rent a car…. It was kind of awkward. Haha
The rental lady was super nice though and the process was easy for pick up.  I’ll let you know if there were any secret evil fees or anything when I return it tomorrow night!!
I drove away in my beauty Kia Forte SX
It's a pretty decent car! Vroooooom!
and headed for Downtown Disney!  I am staying with my dear friend (and old manager Yelitza) until Sunday morning when I move into housing! However she didn’t get off work until 1230am so I went to DTD for a little stroll about and to see Water for Elephants!  I bought the book after the love of my life this nice guy I met in Winnipeg when I was blizzarded (it’s a word…) in recommended it.  It was an amazing book, I, just like him, couldn’t put it down!! I would highly recommend it to any and everyone, and if I hadn’t given my copy to my Mum I would have given it to you!  The movie was pretty good, although they changed a few details…like cutting out the guy who actually ran and owned the circus Al I believe his name is…but overall it was good.  The book was leaps and bounds better, but I dare you to tell me a movie that is better than the book it’s based on.
Yelitza and I from my Disney Grad!

After the movie I headed over to Yelitza’s and after a little mix up on apartments (whoops!) we chatted a bit and headed to bed. It was a long travelling day!!

Wednesday I just used as a day to get things together. I had a great catch up with Yelitza before heading out and getting a cell phone organized. I also went to UCF to drop off proof of health insurance so they would take their block off my account.  I walked around a bit and the excitement crept through me again! I couldn’t stop smiling thinking this is all real.  I also checked out the exact building I’ll be living in. Looks like typical residence, it’s only 6 weeks, I’m not worried!  I met up with Ashley later on and it was a bit surreal being signed into the Commons! We caught up for a bit and then went to Oscar and Kristin’s (where we stayed on our road trip) and picked up my suitcase! It was sooo nice to have clothes again! My suitcase I just brought down was pretty much all bedding and towels so it’s nice to have something to wear.  Ashley is spieling her menu this week so she was practising in the car.  Some of the meals are the same as when I was here before (besides the obviously cheese soup) so that’s pretty nice, some of it was coming back to me!  I’m going to try and steal a menu off Ash before I head back to Canada pre-Disney post-school to study study study!

Today I had International Student Orientation!  I arrived around 830, signed in and we started at 9am.  The people who put on the presentation were really friendly and actually made boring visa/immigration/taxes information seem interesting.  We played a few games including Jeopardy!  The lady asked if anyone had watched the show before and I said yes, as I thought everyone had, but I was the only one! That made my team (our table) decide to name our team Team Kate which added no pressure at all. Haha. Luckily we ended up winning due to pure genius on our part and I didn’t let down my fellow Canadian, Alex Trebek.  We won a UCF USB 2GB stick so that was pretty sweet. We played Bingo at one point too but I didn’t win which was sad because the prize was a cool UCF penchant for the wall…and we all know how I enjoy branding myself with whatever I’m doing at that point. Haha. See I can be honest about it.

I whipped back to the apartment to see Yelitza before work and then went suntanning at the Polynesian!  I wanted soo badly to go to a park, but I feel too guilty asking a friend to use their main gate (except Ashley who offered once she gets hers and I’m sooo excited!), so instead of a park to feed my Disney itch I parked at the Polynesian and walked around.  It was a beautiful day, there were tons of kids in the pool splashing around and dancing with a lifeguard, parents and drinks everywhere.  I borrowed a few towels and went to the secret beach on the side of the Polynesian. It’s the greatest beach on property and so under utilized. I use to go here a bunch on my last contract and there were never people there.  As I was laying out Dream Along with Mickey could be heard over the Seven Seas Lagoon, it was pretty great.   I even fell asleep for a little cat nap under the shade of a few big leafy tree bushes! I strolled around the shops at the resort checking everything out (I think I found a birthday present for my Dad! And a dress I could wear to two of my weddings this summer!) and then made the best decision ever…and got Dole Whip!!! So far this vegan thing is a total fail not going as well as planned, however I made it very clear from the start that Dole Whip resides above everything else in the food pyramid.  I also may have checked out the other MK resorts a bit J I miss Disney World.

Tomorrow morning I have regular new student orientation at UCF and I should be registered for classes by the end (thank goodness!).

Check this picture out:
The quality isn't too good...but I think you get it.

Hehehehe.

"The Time Has Come...

..." the Walrus said,

"To talk of many things:

Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--

Of cabbages--and kings--

And why the sea is boiling hot--

And whether pigs have wings."

It's funny the things that come to mind sometimes.  I told myself, enough is enough, you have to update that blog, and oh course what comes into my mind? Why Disney's Alice in Wonderland Carroll Lewis of course!! (Because I'm a student now and have to think in an intellectual way now ;) )

BMO Half Marathon

In the build up to my race a lot of people made the comment about how being called a "Half Marathon" doesn't give the run justice, as 21.1km, or 13 miles, isn't 'just a run,' it's a bit of a trek!!  I tried to play it cool before the race, but when I was done I was proud - it's a long way to go! Especially as I only really started running in January with a few jaunts last fall.
The day started with my (amazing) Mum and I rising around 530am and making our way over the Lion's Gate Bridge to just before Rogers Arena where Mum dropped me off.  There was a huge wave of runners pouring into the area and I was excited/anxious.  I did probably the most important pre-run ritual (based on the huge amount of people in the line ups) and visited the ladies outdoor port-a-loo before joining the huge mass forming at the starting line for the Half Marathon.  The race officially started at 7, so they did a bit of talking, played the national anthem, and then shot off the gun! It took a few minutes for me to actually reach the starting line, but things started off pretty well! I got into a rhyme and kept telling myself that it was okay I was being passed, as I was also passing others.  In the beginning people are all over the place and it takes the first couple of kilometres to get into your right pace group.
It was a really neat feeling to be amongst so many people, running along as the sun rose through the streets of Vancouver.  There were bands along the route at a few places and some water/Gatorade and Gel stations.  I tried my first gel (I know, I know, don't try something new during a race) but I think it did help give me energy part way through the race.  I got pretty good at snagging water off the tables without really stopping after the first one.  I didn't drink any gatorade because I don't like the taste it leaves in my mouth...yuck!
I ran past the half way mark (which fell in Stanley Park) and to the bottom of Prospect Point.  It's a 200 foot elevation change over about half a km and as many people started walking I power walked my way up the hill, then started running again from the top.  I felt like I was doing alright down through Stanley Park until I reached English Bay. Then I thought I was going to die.
To be perfectly honest, I had only ran one 11km run in the past month, and maybe three 5 kms? It was really poor training, and I might have had a bunch of fries, beers, and other treats on that road trip of mine.  Needless to say, I could have prepared better, and the last 4.5km I really felt it.
It was really frustrating and I had a big inward battle of mind over body over mind. I wanted to run but my body was tired and I wanted to just walk.  I walked far more than I had wanted to in the last stretch and it was clearly conditioning and endurance.  I did run the last 2km though to finish strong (don't want to be seen walking by all those people cheering!) Plus I saw a sign that said "It's not sweat, it's your fat crying" which made me feel bad.  There were a TON of really nice positive signs though, and people wanting to High-five and cheer me on.
There was one girl in particular who I saw right at the beginning of the race who had "Just Keep Running.." written on duct tape on the back of her shirt.  I thought "Yah! I'm going to keep running!" and throughout the race I would pass her, and then twenty minutes later she'd pass me again, and then twenty minutes later I'd notice myself passing her again.  Then I didn't see her for a while.  Near the end I was walking (like a big tired out lazy!) and I saw her jog past me.  I starting running again, passed her, and ran my way over the finish line (ahead of her :) ).  It wasn't the beating her part that matter, it was just seeing that encouragement from someone else going through the same thing.
I unfortunately was only focused on crossing the finish line and didn't hear or see my Mum calling out my name and cheering me on near the finish line.  I had scanned the crowd a bit for her but near the end I just had to be done.  She did see me though and took some photos for proof! :D I am so appreciative of my Mum coming to watch me, it meant so much to have her there representing all the love and support from my family.
When I did cross the line I thought I was going to die.  It was super sunny and I was pretty light headed to be honest.  I walked about fora bit then sat in the shade with some water and semi-stretched my legs.  Eventually I got up and went into the runner's food area for some grub (bagels with no cream cheese? gross.  Fruit Source bars, mini-muffins, hard boiled eggs and chips? Yum!).  Then started the search for my Mum.  She had lost track of me after I crossed the line and I didn't have a clue where she was.  I even got to relive my youth by going up to the Lost and Found and telling them that I am a bit old for it I know, but I've lost my Mum, I don't have a cell phone, and could I borrow one to make a call? hehehe. Oh dear.  We were eventually reunited thanks to Gareth and were on our way back to West Vancouver :)
Best Part of the Half Marathon: The buzz. The feel.  Finishing.
Worst Part of the Half Marathon: The last 4 km. Ugg.
What I will do differently Next Time: Complete my training!! I didn't train in the last month and even though my 11km felt great the week before, that's still 10km afterwards!
Will there be a "Next Time"?:  As soon as I finished the race I said...NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
About 45 minutes later (when I could breath and function normally, and had had some yummy food) I was already WAY toooo excited about my next race, which I have already registered for!!
I shall be running a half marathon October 1st, 2011.  The Walt Disney World Wine & Dine Half Marathon!!!  I had said before that I wanted to run it, but now I am officially registered!! I will most likely still be on podium at Le Cellier at this time, so it shouldn't be too difficult getting the shift off, as it doesn't start until 10pm!! However, I'm just going to hope hope hope really hard, as you never know with Disney schedules!
I have already started pouring over training schedules and am pretty sure I have a pretty great plan in place.  This past half I just wanted to finish, this half I'm hoping to get a better time, as it is a key stepping stone in my quest for the full marathon in January 2012!! (That's not even far away! Ahh!)
I will have to acclimatize to running in crazy heat though, as summer in Orlando is HOT! May in Orlando is already 35/88 degrees!
This time last year if you asked me if I was a runner I would have laughed. Just laughed.
Now if you ask me if I'm a runner, I would say yes.  I'm not a hardcore runner, I'm not aiming to win any races or qualify for Boston or anything like that, but I think it's safe to say, yes, I'm a runner. I love running :)

May the 4th Be With You!

Cheesy? Yes. Will it make you always remember my birth date? Also Yes!
On May 4th, 22 years ago, at 0848, Anne and Chris Armstrong welcomed ME into this world at Grace Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Hehehe.
I love birthdays. I love MY birthday.  Yes I am 22 this year, and I know that as you get older you aren't suppose to love your birthday as much, but I still do.  Yes it freaks me out most years and I can't believe that I'm already twenty two and I have so much to accomplish still, but if it's going to come, we should at least celebrate it and love it!  I spent my birthday with great friends and family and it was really nice.  People were all way too generous! I had a 3 day multi-friend/family/friends celebration as well as a few amazing phone calls from my Carebear and a nice weekend visit from Kimmy, Gar and Clodagh! (and Lily of course!).
Twenty One was a really trying age for me.  I started it out in a far away location mourning the end of Disney, the end of a relationship, a crappy new job and my only friend within 100 miles was working.  I spent four months trying to make a horrible work environment better, then decided it wasn't worth it and moved in with my sister and her fiance - who then sprang on the family she was pregnant!! I never thought at 21 (or at any age really) I'd be living with a pregnant lady :)  Kim and I hadn't lived together since I was 12 and she graduated high school, so it took some adjustment but ended up incredible.  I ended my twenty first year with my first ever road trip, with many amazing stops through the states, and by running a half marathon!  Along the way I also wrote my SATs and got accepted to the University of Central Florida (Rosen College of Hospitality Management), learned a ton about working environments and my limits, learned to love running, and learned to love myself and started along the path to being who I truly want to be.  It was a trying, hard, dirty year.  The highs were high and the lows were low, but I thank everyone along the way for helping me become who I am today.

Today, today I'm 22 years old.  And although if you had asked me four years ago what would be happening when I was 22 years old, I would have told you (completely certain) something completely different to how things actually are.  I have always been the master of life plans, and although I have one now as well, the difference is I know it will change, because there is no way I can know the incredible opportunities that will arise in the future.   It does feel a bit scary being 22 and just going back to school.  I feel as though, like all the people I started at Queen's with, and some of my high school friends as well, I should be graduating with a degree this year.  Instead I am flying to Orlando bright and early Tuesday morning and after orientation this week as well as moving in, I'm starting at the University of Central Florida on Monday May 16th towards a Bachelor Of Science Degree In Hospitality Management.  Some of my credits will transfer over from Queen's (hopefully most!) but I'm pretty much starting from the beginning.  I am doing the summer semester of school to get a head start before coming back to Vancouver Island for a few weeks for my sister Kimmy's wedding!! and then going back down to Orlando August 15th (red eye!) to start working at Walt Disney World August 16th!! Then I'm running a half marathon October 1st, my friend Emma who I haven't seen since November 2008 is coming to visit November 2011, I'm running a full marathon January 8th, 2012, and my dear husband Craig is coming to visit in February 2012! And that is only the planned out things! This 22nd year is going to be so full of new adventures, of discovery and learning.  I am so excited about everything that it holds and am so ready to reach out and grab 22 by the horns and own it.

Mother's Day Weekend!

Friday night Kim and Gareth came over with Clodagh and Lily for the weekend!  They arrived pretty late but it's always so nice when they visit.  This visit was very special though because on Saturday Grandma and Grandpa came over and got to hold and meet Clodagh for the first time! Her Great-Grandparents!! It was so incredible seeing them hold little Clodagh in their arms, they've definitely had practise with babies! Thinking about how they had rocked my Mum and her siblings back and forth, and rocked me and my sisters back and forth and were now rocking my niece back and forth the same way - it's just so moving and so breathtaking. I am so in awe of my Grandma and Grandpa. They are the most loving, interesting, magnificent people.  They tell the best stories and my Grandpa has this uncanny ability to remember each and every date anything ever happened on! He even remembers what people wore and how everything went!
We had a nice Mother's Day dinner Saturday night all together because Sunday Kim, Gar and I were leaving for Vancouver.  We have had many family dinners over the years (we even had one last Wednesday for my bday) but this one was an especially great one.  Everyone was in great spirits (until the hockey game) and I got the chance to have a really special chat with my Grandma before I travelled away.
Sunday we had a nice brunch cooked mainly by Dad ( I had a tofu scramble..which I've never made before and needed a lot of ketchup for! haha) and I helped a little with the eggs...which I couldn't eat any of...because...I've gone vegan again!!!

I just feel healthier and I made better decisions when my brain isn't bogged down with cheese.  Even though I love love love cheese, I think it's best we have a little separation until July.  I will preface this vegan thing with this: If the opportunity arises before July for me to have Dole Whip, I will. I will have Dole Whip and I will love each and every bite. Dole Whip is the reason I can never be a full on forever vegan.  It just is too much heaven on earth. I don't want a wedding cake - I want a Dole Whip machine ;)

This post has been very random and very little Disney so I am going to leave you with these...Some links to some GREAT Disney Updates!!!!
Also sorry for the lack of photos..and can you believe I'm a cast member in less than 100 days!!! Ahhhh Double Digits!!

This picture is absolutely breath-taking!

Canada!

First of all...yay only 110 Days! Crazyness...the more crazy part is that I'm actually going down in 12 days for school! But we'll get to that after this...

Yay Buddy!

This was a huge moment.  I was the first one in our house to have it actually sink in that we won and everyone went insane!! Chicago has kicked the Canucks out of the playoffs the past two years in a row, and then we had a really hard go having this series extend to 7 games against last year's Stanley Cup winners.  You could feel all of British Columbia exhaling after the goal...and cheering and screaming and being sooo freaking happy!!
Another incredible part of Canucks hockey is this...
You may notice that Canuck's fans never want to miss the start of a home game, and this guy is definitely a part of that. Mark Donnelly has been singing the Canadian Anthem at Canucks games for quite a few years now and it gives me chills every time.  Especially when lucky enough to be in the building.  The sound on this clip is a little scratchy..but I think you get the idea ;)

So as you can tell I've been watching a lot of hockey since returned from my road trip! And intense doesn't start to describe it.  I'm so glad we're onto the second round! Go Canucks Go!

Besides watching hockey (and I will admit too many other tv shows) I have been running, hanging out with friends, hanging out with family and trying to unpack, sort out, and repack my room and belongings. I have too much stuff. It actually drives me crazy how many possessions I have and if I could I would go back and unbuy the majority of them.  I think this is a good sign because hopefully it will remind me not to buy stupid things when I'm in Florida!  I've been trying to sort out all my school paperwork and packing and everything and it's been pretty stressful and I will be so happy when I can just be there and work and be good.

I am running the BMO Half Marathon on Sunday (in two days!! ahh!!) and am going over to Vancouver today with my Mum to stay at my sister Kimmy's! I'm excited to see how my little niece has changed in the last almost two weeks! I get back home Sunday night and then work the federal election as a poll clerk on Monday! (It's like 12 hours of crossing out peoples names on a list and telepathic-ly trying to tell them who to vote for. I'm going to bring a book :P

Then Wednesday is my birthday!! Yay! I'm going to have a little celebration with some girlfriends as most of my friends are out of town right now, and then a family dinner as well. Then Kim, Gar and Clodagh are visiting for the weekend and then I'm off Tuesday to Florida! 11 days! Crazyness! Right now however, I just have to focus on my 21.1km run on Sunday and pray it goes well! I'm super nervous. I hope I can do it and it's all okay....

I went and watched the Canucks beat the Predators last night with my dear friend Holly at a restaurant in town.  It was really nice catching up on some of our ridiculous antics from when we were younger and when
Younger versions of us!
we lived in Grande Prairie, Alberta together! Holly and I have come to the realization that we are amazing friends, but just can't live together! haha. We laughed so hard Holly shed some tears - it was awesome! Somehow through all this I convinced Holly to come over and watch the Royal Wedding with me...LIVE! Yup, I'll admit it here first...we watched wedding coverage from 930pm until (are you ready for this?!) 6am! In this time we also played a short lived drinking game (take a sip every time they said Kate or Harry (because he's the cuter brother), we baked fantastic chocolate chip oatmeal peanut butter cookies, spent long periods of time only speaking in ridiculous perfect British accents and we laughed and joked and somehow kept each other awake for that kiss on the balcony!
She is gorgeous!
It was a really gorgeous ceremony and Kate looked amazing.  We also discovered that Kate Middleton's name is Catherine Elizabeth...and mine is Kathryn Elizabeth too!!! So it's almost as if I'm married to the Prince of England. Almost.
Fun Fact: Holly's middle name is also Elizabeth!

I couldn't believe how long the aisle was! That's a hike and a half to get to the alter.  It was cute seeing Kate and Wills share some looks and smiles and apparently Will said to Kate's dad "I thought this was suppose to be a small affair" or something like that.  Hehehe. All in all I thought it was lovely.  People ask what is the big deal with the Royal Wedding.  I can only answer for myself, but I enjoy the monarch. They don't really have any power in Canada, however they are great figureheads and the Queen is such a strong woman.  I think William is a great humanitarian and a lot of people who love Diana and have watched William and Harry grow up were happy to see him have such a great, happy moment.  I also love weddings in general, and this one was huge, grand and beautiful! It's also a historical moment, we watched the future King of England get married!

I watched in 1997 as Will and Harry stood as their Mother's casket went past, and it was the first time I ever saw my own Mum cry.  Watching some of the wedding pre-show with her meant a lot, it felt very connected to that moment when I was younger and sort of tied it up into a much happier conclusion.

Wills and Kate drove around The Mall so fans who lined the street and waited forever could have a wave.
I also remember singing 'God Save the Queen' in elementary school all the time.  I can't kid anybody...I'm a royal lover. There, I admitted it. Sorry Gareth.  Weddings are a vision of hope, love and optimism, and in an ever changing and uncertain world, the Royal Family is a sign of traditions and stability. Love it.
